Starting keepalived: /bin/bash: keepalived: command not found

Filed under: Keepalived — mani @ 6:24 pm

I had to install keepalived on OEL.  Installed per instruction https://manidba.wordpress.com/2011/11/10/keepalived-install-setup-and-usage/

When I try to start the daemon, it failed with error.  “Starting keepalived: /bin/bash: keepalived: command not found”

I had to fix the keepalived script as below to make it work. Updated below line with correct path.

start() {
echo -n $”Starting $prog: ”
#    daemon keepalived ${KEEPALIVED_OPTIONS}
daemon /usr/local/sbin/keepalived ${KEEPALIVED_OPTIONS}
RETVAL=$?
echo
[ $RETVAL -eq 0 ] && touch /var/lock/subsys/$prog
}

Now keepalived daemon started successfully.

[root@xxxxx init.d]# /etc/init.d/keepalived start
Starting keepalived:                                       [  OK  ]
[root@xxxxx init.d]#
